There are no full-time positions available at this time.
Candidates must have completed at least one full year of undergraduate course work. Stipends are available, and CMA will honor institutional requirements for course credit. In addition to department-specific duties, CMA interns are called upon to assist with general office tasks. Accommodations while in New York City are the responsibility of the intern.
Internships become available throughout the year in the following departments:
Chamber Music magazine is the official publication of Chamber Music America. A full-color bimonthly, the magazine contains articles, interviews, book reviews, and essays of interest to the chamber music field. Applicants should have excellent writing and editing skills, computer experience, general office skills, and a knowledge of, or interest in, music.
The Membership Department acquires and promotes benefits and services for members and maintains the organization's database. The intern assists staff in these areas, as well as with monthly mailings and telephone membership drives.
This intern assists the Conference & Events manager with the production of CMA's annual National Conference (held in New York City in mid-January), and with other special events. Specific tasks include registration processing and follow-up, arranging speaker travel, assisting with on-site production logistics, and preparation and editing of the program book. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and being highly organized is a must. September-January preferred.
The Program Department administers CMA's grants and awards. The intern assists program staff with the management of CMA's Residency Partnership, Commissioning, and performance programs; grant panel preparations and panel proceedings; and generates correspondence to applicants.
The Development Department manages all aspects of CMA's fundraising efforts. The intern assists with donor research, the planning and production of cultivation events, the crafting of grant proposals, file management, and correspondence. Applicants must have excellent writing, editing, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel & Access; DonorPerfect a plus). Knowledge of, or interest in, music is a plus.
The Office of Administration coordinates all aspects of CMA's operations. The intern assists the CEO and Director of Administration with finance management, Board and committee meetings, general office management, and other administrative tasks. Specialized internships can be organized around an intern's specific area of study.
Internships require a minimum of 10-20 hours per week, and are available throughout the year.
