Program

Jan Boland (19th-century wooden flute) , John Dowdall (gut-strung 19th-c guitar) and natural horn player Douglas Lundeen (New York) join forces to perform trios on antique 19th-century period instruments. Music by Dickhut, Giuliani, Sor and Corret. Enjoy the mellow sounds of the all-natural valveless, nineteenth-century horn. Natural horn specialist Douglas Lundeen joins Jan and John for trios and duos that dance, sing and shimmer with the enchanting blend of brass, woodwind and gut strings. The musicians pepper the performance with lively commentary designed to entertain and educate audience members about these rare instruments and seldom-heard works.
