Cantus in parternship with the University of Minnesota presents this year's Cantus Residency Concert, marking the fourth year of the organization's award-winning High School Residency program and the second year of the Collegiate Chamber Ensemble program. Each year, Cantus artists work with three area high school choirs over the course of several visits to rehearsals. In addition to these visits, students and directors also collaborate in a festival and culminating concert with choirs from two other schools. Three new schools are selected from the greater metropolitan area each year. With funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, choral students from the University of Minnesota have met independently as a self-led chamber ensemble with scheduled visits from Cantus artists to guide them through the collaborative process. This program offers students the opportunity to work with each other to prepare and perform repertoire without a conductor. Both programs are provided free of charge to students involved and help fulfill Cantus' mission to champion choral singing for people of all ages.
