The “spectacular” (Gramophone) Cecilia String Quartet performs Leos Janáček's wrenching String Quartet No. 1 and Jeffrey Ryan’s String Quartet #3 (sonata distorta), both inspired by Tolstoy’s novella The Kreutzer Sonata. Clarinettist James Campbell joins the Quartet for a performance of Brahms’ autumnal Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B minor, Op. 115.
