New York Chamber Musicians (NYCM) welcomes violinist Philip Setzer, a founding member of the acclaimed, nine-time Grammy award winning Emerson String Quartet, as their featured guest at its next intimate chamber music concert on April 26th, 7:00pm, in the Victor Borge Hall located at The Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue.

The evening’s repertoire will consist of three compositions from Johannes Brahms:

Violin Sonata No. 1 in G major, Op. 78
Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34
String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 111

NYCM's concerts strive to create an intimate salon experience, just as chamber music was originally intended for. Attendees find themselves directly feeling the flow of music and emotions. The spirit of the evening is relaxed and convivial. The artists frequently introduce the pieces they will be performing, adding their own personal impressions of the music.

Joining Setzer will be NYCM resident artists, all of them outstanding performers and alumni of prestigious music programs such as Carnegie Hall’s Academy, Julliard School of Music, New England Conservatory, Yale School of Music, and Indiana University: violinist Joanna Kaczorowska, pianist Molly Morkoski, cellist Yves Dharamraj, and violists Arnaud Ghillebaert and Philip Carter.

This concert, with Philip Setzer, promises to be magical. Phil is undoubtedly one of the best violinists of our time. His sweet, velvet-like and tender tone finds few, if any, matches among contemporary violinists.”, said Dr. Joanna M. Kaczorowska, NYCM Artistic Director and Co-Executive Director, alumna of Carnegie Hall’s program, The Academy, and current violin and chamber music professor at Stony Brook University. “When I hear his playing, I can only think of the greatest violinists of the past century such as David Oistrakh, Oscar Shumsky or Fritz Kreisler.”
