Exploring Jazz & Its African Rhythms featuring Jazz master saxophonist/clarinetist Wendell Harrison and his ensemble.
Wendell Harrison and his band mates will perform, demonstrate and connect the dots between traditional African rhythms and jazz music.  This exciting presentation will highlight the music styles of  Samba, Reggae, and Swing.  Harrison’s ensemble consists of stellar worldly musicians including bassist Pathe Jassi who is from Senagal, Africa who will teach the audience participants a few words in Wolof and Swahili, percussionist Lance Gully and drummer Louis M. Jones will demonstrate a few rhythms, afro cuban jazz pianist and composer Pamela Wise who is fluent with various afro cuban rhythms will demonstrate harmonic structures, rap and spoken word artist Mahagony  Jones will demonstrate a rap segment based on African and jazz rhythms, guitarist Jacob Schwandt rounds out the ensemble and world reknown dancer Lisa McCall or one of her students will demonstrate a few dance steps.  Each segment will be brief and entertaining. Music and dancing!  Stimulating and positive energy.
