Description

Think you know percussion? Think again! The Grammy-nominated Los Angeles Percussion Quartet is an innovative and dynamic chamber music ensemble whose performances feature easily recognizable “classical” instruments, such as tom toms, snare drums, marimbas, vibraphones, and cymbals, alongside exotic traditional instruments from numerous world music traditions, including North Indian tabla, Indonesian gongs, African djembes, Cuban congas, and Arabic tambourines. They also perform on “found” instruments (aka “junk” percussion!), which include industrial pipes and bell plates, tuned rice bowls, children’s toys (melodicas, shakers, toy pianos), planks of resonant exotic hardwood, and rattles of all sizes. $29-$55
