On March 26, 1827, Ludwig Van Beethoven died in Vienna. The day after, a twelve-year-old boy took a lock of his hair as a souvenir. 167 years later, the lock of hair was sold to two Americans. Author Russell Martin investigated the incredible journey in his book “Beethoven’s Hair.” Join author Russell Martin and the Festival musicians as they explore the historic and scientific journey of one of the world’s greatest composers with musical examples in this unique event that also explores history, science, literature, and politics on the global stage.
On Sunday afternoon, hear all of the complete works at United Methodist Church in a traditional concert.
Ludwig van Beethoven - Serenade in D, op. 25
Ludwig van Beethoven - Cello Sonata in A, op. 69
Ludwig van Beethoven - String Quartet in E-flat, op. 127
