Late Style NOW: Adams, Andriessen, Reich
Friday, May 02, 2014
The trailblazing renegades John Adams, Louis Andriessen and Steve Reich changed the course of late 20th-century music -- each in their own way allowing the pop world to enter the concert hall – and are now creating the works that define their late styles. Be among the first to experience these new pieces when Da Camera presents the Houston premieres of works by three towering figures in contemporary music. Steve Reich’s Radio Rewrite is inspired by the music of Radiohead. Grawemeyer Award-winning Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, one of the most acclaimed, influential composers of his generation, combines video and music in Life.
In the new music event of the year, the award-winning ensemble ICE returns to Da Camera in full force, with an ensemble of 20 musicians. Exemplifying the term "trailblazers," this self-managed entrepreneurial group has gained world renown for their electrifying performances of the music of our time.
