to support our 2014 outreach tour in South America
Cuatro Puntos is a group of chamber musicians dedicated to global cooperation and peace through the writing and performance of new music worldwide. The group recently returned from a tour of the South American country of Bolivia, where the artists worked with orchestra students in the remote city of Tarija, as well as with music students at the Institute Laredo in Cochabamba. Cuatro Puntos also performed as representatives of the United States on several internationally acclaimed new music festivals, including the Jornadas de Música Contemporánea at the esteemed Palacio Portales. Cuatro Puntos commissioned a work from American composer Nicole Chamberlain specifically for this tour. This tour- including it’s workshops with youth, culture-bridging concerts, and commission of new music- represents the essence of Cuatro Puntos. Another, broader South American tour is planned for 2014, including a return to Bolivia as well as concerts and workshops in Brazil and other nearby countries. While home from touring, the ensemble performs a five-concert season at their home venue in Glastonbury, Connecticut. They also do outreach work at home, including a 2013 partnership with the United Way of Central Connecticut to create a summer music course as part of a compulsary summer school program for at-risk students in New Britain, CT. Cuatro Puntos also supports composers through the Zvi Zeitlin Memorial International Composition Competition. For info on all of our concerts and programs, please visit www.cuatropuntos.org.
