Description

On January 17 @ 7:30 PM, the acclaimed, award-winning pioneer of the clarinet-violin-piano instrumention - Zodiac Trio, will present an ecclectic program at NYC's Le Poisson Rouge, joined by American String Quartet cellist Wolfram Koessel.

The program will feature the U.S. premiere of a work written for the Zodiac Trio by Richard Danielpour, titled "Lamentation," which was given its World Premiere in Paris, France, in June of 2013 as part of a special Franco-American contemporary music concert featuring Danielpour, Zodiac Trio and French composers Nicolas Bacri.

Also on offer for the evening is another work written for the ensemble -  composer Andrew List's "Klezmer Fantazye,"  which borrows from the Klezmer tradition, yet is presented with List's own unique contemporary language.

Joined by cellist Wolfram Koessel (American String Quartet), the Zodiac Trio will also present John Mackey's "Breakdown Tango" - a tour de force of a piece for clarinet-violin-piano and cello.

Lastly, the concert will feature a pillar of the clarinet-violin-piano instrumentation, that has become a calling card the the Zodiac Trio - Igor Stravinsky's legendary "L'Histoire du Soldat."  Having performed the work at over a hundred concerts, and recorded it to great critical acclaim, this particular performance will add another dimension to the piece, as the Zodiac Trio collaborates with visual and performing artists on a brand new production, to be unveiled at the incomporable "Le Poisson Rouge!"

Tickets are $20, with a $10 discount for students.

Availability is limited, advance reservation is highly recommended.
