Winners of five national prizes in chamber music, including a Fischoff Silver Medal (2012) and grand prize at both the Plowman and MTNA National Competitions (2011), Akropolis is blazing the reed quintet trail. Akropolis has commissioned 20 reed quintets as part of creative commissioning projects including Unraveled and Project Sonata, and it maintains a sheet music catalog of reed quintet music called Akropolis Collection. Akropolis leads the first ever Reed Quintet Consortium of 12 reed quintets from 4 countries, and it recently began a Web Premiere Series of new reed quintet works for Youtube. Committed to outreach, Akropolis is involved in numerous engagements throughout Michigan, including its recent 3-day residency in Clarkston, MI.
