Anne Kilstofte receives commissions by prominent national and international chamber and orchestral ensembles and has received numerous national and international awards for her music. Critics write that she has "an ability to write for all chamber ensemble, which truly sets her music apart. Her music displays exceptional varieties of tone color, conjuring landscapes that are sometimes misty, sometimes luminous, yet always atmospheric" and her music is heralded among the best of a handful of prominent composers coming from the American Composers Forum. Her Ph.D. in theory/composition is from the University of Minnesota where she studied with Pulitzer-prize winner Dominick Argento, Judith Lang-Zaimont, and independently with Libby Larsen.
