Ben Allison has solidified his place as a "top tier" jazz musician, having secured an international reputation as an electrifying performer with an ear for working the fine line between adventurous experimentation and accessibility. His ten critically acclaimed CDs as a leader have reached the top of the U.S. jazz radio charts and have earned him numerous awards for excellence. In 1992 Ben formed the Jazz Composers Collective, a musician-run nonprofit organization based in New York City, that until its dissolution in 2004 was dedicated to the development and exploration of new music. Ben served as the organization's artistic director and as a composer-in-residence. Ben currently serves on the board of the NY chapter of the Recording Academy
