New York-born Don Byron, is a singular voice in an astounding range of musical contexts. As clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, arranger, and social critic, he redifines every genre of music he plays, be it classical, salsa, hip-hop, funk, klezmer, rhythm blues, gospel, or any jazz style. He has composed and arranged music for chamber ensembles, dance, film, and his numerous bands, and released twelve albums on Blue Note and Nonesuch Records. 2004's "Ivey-Divey" was Jazz Times Record of the Year and nominated for a Grammy. Byron has received a Doris Duke Performing Artist Award,Guggenheim and USA Prudential Fellowships, the Samuel Barber Rome Prize for Composition, and his "7 Etudes for Piano" was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Music
