Formed in Philadelphia twenty one years ago, musicians and critics alike wondered, why would the DSQ move to Maine, where, as the New York Times noted, they create an experience "like watching the Celtics play in the local gym." But the members of the DSQ are proud to call mid-coast Maine home, and their relationship with the state remains a deeply rooted one. The Quartet's repertoire ranges from 17th century to cutting-edge contemporary works. Known for their inventive interpretations, the Boston Globe notes their freshness: "Once again, the music could have been hot off the presses. Quartet members regularly share musical insights with their audiences. Their performances affirm chamber music as a vital and alive art form.
