Guitarist Gene Ess brings his award-winning musicianship from a diverse background. He grew up playing classical piano due to his mother's being a classical pianist and a well-known piano instructor. He graduated Berklee in 1990 and moved to NYC in 1991. During the '90s he worked with the drummer Rashied Ali, touring globally and releasing an album. Gene's latest work, "Modes of Limited Transcendence," has received great reviews globally, and his quartet has performed at many venues, including Blue Note.Gene is the recipient of a 2009 SESAC Jazz Award.

Gene Ess "Fractal Attraction" finished tracking for the new album to be released in 2013 Spring. With Thana Alexa on voice, David Berkman on piano, Gene Jackson on drums, Thomson Kneeland on bass, and Gene Ess on guitar and compositions.
