George Brooks performs original, world-class jazz, informed by the modes and rhythms of Indian classical music. He is the leader of several prominent ensembles including George Brooks Summit -- with Steve Smith, Kai Eckhardt, Fareed Haque and various guests including Zakir Hussain and Swapan Chaudhuri; Bombay Jazz, which he directs with Larry Coryell and Ronu Majumdar and The Raga Bop Trio, which he leads with Steve Smith and guitarist Prasanna. In addition Brooks has been commissioned to compose original works for dance, opera, film, theater and poetry.
