O du mein holder Abendstern
Liszt's transcription of this famous Wagner aria (from Tannhäuser) for cello and piano.
Exceptional music for cello and piano: two great sonatas–a virtuosic early masterpiece by Beethoven, and Sonata (1948) by American centenarian Elliott Carter–plus exquisite songs of Poulenc (our arrangements) and a haunting lullaby by Nadia Boulanger.
