Since its founding in 1987, the Rawlins Piano Trio has distinguished itself as a dynamic group of performers, teachers and scholars. Touring regularly throughout the United States and abroad--most recently in Taiwan and Panama--the artists combine school visits and master classes with performances in a variety of concert venues. The Trio's repertoire is diverse, ranging from standard repertoire to new and undiscovered works. Its projects have highlighted the complete Beethoven piano trio cycle; performances and four CDs of19th- and early 20th-century American music; and a series of new American music commissions, begun in 2005. The first commissioned composition, Volvic Maritim by Daniel Bernard Roumain was released on CD in 2009.
