The Rubin Museum of Art is dedicated to the arts of the Himalayas and their interpretation in many disciplines. The cherry-wood lined theater seats 137 and has very fine acoustics. Four series are the mainstay of musical offerings: Naked Soul (for singer-songwriters), Harlem in the Himalayas (jazz), Resonating Light (classical), Spiral Music (world). The Silk Road Ensemble has had a ten-day residency here (2006), and RMA commissioned Sir John Tavener's Towards Silence (2009).
