42nd season of commissioning, premiering, presenting and recording a wide variety of new chamber music. Performs an average of 30 concerts per season throughout central New York, sponsors the Cazenovia Counterpoint festival, workshops, composer residencies, Young Composers Corner, and a weekly radio program ("Fresh Ink") on WCNY-FM. The Society awards the Brian M. Israel Prize to an outstanding young New York State composer. Recipient of the 1994 American Composers Alliance Laurel Leaf Award, a 2001 NYS Governor's Arts Award, and a 2010 American Music Center Letter of Distinction.

The Society for New Music's 41st season will open with a program honoring John Cage's Centenary at 2:30pm Sunday, Sept. 12. "Un-Caged: Art as Nature", a 'MusiCircus', will be held in the galleries and auditorium of the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY.
