Called an "experimental powerhouse" (Village Voice) and "brilliant" (New York Times), So Percussion presents a wide range of programs including percussion classics (John Cage, Iannis Xenakis), new commissions (Steve Reich, David Lang, Caroline Shaw, Steve Mackey, Dan Trueman), sonic collaborations (Matmos, The National, Dan Deacon, Shara Nova), and their own music ('A Gun Show', 'From Out a Darker Sea'). The members of So Percussion are Performers-in-Residence at Princeton University, and Co-Directors of the Percussion Department at the Bard College Conservatory and the annual So Percussion Summer Institute. In 2015 So Percussion received a CMA Classical Commissioning grant to commission the new piece 'Springs' from composer Paul Lansky.

So Percussion is excited to have received a 2015 CMA Classical Commissioning grant to commission Paul Lansky!  The piece will be written for mostly unpitched percussion, having been inspired by Paul's electronic masterpiece "Table's Clear", which featured sounds he recorded at his kitchen table with his children.
