The Taylor Ho Bynum Sextet has been described as "the shape of jazz to come" (The Wire, UK) and "one of the essential ensembles in modern jazz" (Jazzman Magazine, France). The group has toured throughout the US and internationally and has recorded three critically acclaimed CDs. Their most recent album, Apparent Distance (Firehouse 12 Records), was the result a CMA 2010 New Jazz Works Commissioning Grant, and described by the New York Times as a “thoughtfully tumultuous new album…It’s all seductively challenging, full of standout moments that nevertheless dissolve into the whole.”
