Oscar Peñas will perform as part of APAP|NY showcase this coming Sunday, Janaury 13 at DROM time: 7:25 pm for 40 min. door opens at 6:00 pm.
On February 2nd, 2012 will be the premier of the newly created Bohemian Trio which will perform at Symphony Space as part of The Music of Now Marathon. Curated and directed by Tania Leon. The trio is comprise by; Orlando Alonso on piano, Rubin Kodhelic on cello and Yosvany Terry on saxes and chekere. The concert is at 7:30 pm.
Commissioned by Yerba Buena Garden Festival to write the Suite: Noches de Parrandas. The piece will premier on September 16th, 2013 in San Francisco.

Just before Christmas, my octet CD Burning Bridge, commissioned by CMA's New Jazz Works, reached #8 on the CMJ national college radio charts.
On Jan. 15 my quartet EDGE will begin our CMA residency at the Infintiy Institute, a middle school in Jersey City, NJ. Students will learn about jazz improvisation, rhythms, imagery, orchestration, individuality, community, and self-empowerment in five workshops augmented by Moodle page(educational web tool) interactions.
The Febraury issue of Downbeat will feature my Q&A with critic Tom Staudter.
My new CD, Burning Bridge, commissioned by CMA's New Jazz Works, was featured last month on National Public Radio's Fresh Air by critic Kevin Whitehead.
