March 1 David Bindman unveils his double cd Sunset Park Polyphony. Performed by a six-member ensemble, songs and extended compositions explore layers of rhythmic and harmonic complexity, integrate elements from West Africa and India, and have improvisation at the core.
My recording of John Stone’s “Daybreak in Alabama,” with the composer at the piano, was chosen for the Song of America radio series, airing nationwide. Program 12: "Langston Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance" airs locally on WQXR 105.9 FM on March 25, 2012, at 9 PM.
We had our debut performance at Carnegie Hall in Zankel Hall November 10, 2011. We posted an excerpt of the performance, William Susman's Piano Concerto, on our website.
