Alchemy Sound Project saxophonist and composer Erica Lindsay was awarded a 2017 New Jazz Works grant from Chamber Music America, supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Lindsay will compose a new work for the composer-performer collective Alchemy Sound Project, with performances to be supported by the grant.

Thanks to a 2017 CMA Classical Commissioning Grant, composer Tonia Ko will write us a 30 minute piece titled "Plain, Air" which investigates the relationship between the musical environment, and the unique natural landscapes found around our home city of Chicago.

Our Residency is going well. Last week, Dr. St. John-Larkin and Loretta Notareschi lectured on maternal mental health for grand rounds, followed by a performance of Notareschi's String Quartet OCD. About 75 doctors attended, and many commented on the way the program helped them viscerally understand maternal mental illness.
