In November 2014 the Massachusetts House of Representatives conferred formal recognition to Shelter Music Boston for "concerts with bring the arts, dignity, and respect to homeless men and women."  Here's the proclamation!


Julie Leven received the Boston Neighborhood Fellows Award in April 2014. She is the first classical musician ever to receive this award for "quietly making the community a better place with creativity, vision, and initiative."

Noteworthy Sheet Music

Just published: “Butterfly Effects for flute(s) and harp” by the talented American composer Elizabeth Vercoe is a fascinating work of seven very different short movements to be played on concert flute, alto, bass, or piccolo, with harp.


The Steve Griggs Ensemble will create Listen to Seattle, a program of narration and music inspired by the life and words of Chief Seattle, with support from a 4Culture Historic Site Specific Grant. The program will premiere at the Duwamish Long House in 2015 followed by free performances at historically significant sites.
