The School of Music welcomes back the Parker Quartet, University of South Carolina’s quartet-in-residence, for master classes and coaching, public events, school outreach and special opportunities for chamber music enthusiasts. 


The Alan Ferber Nonet has recently finished recording its new work, "Roots & Transitions" at Systems Two Recording studio in Brooklyn, NY with Alan on trombone, Scott Wendholt, Shane Endsley, Jon Gordon, John Ellis, Charles Pillow, Nate Radley, Bryn Roberts, & Mark Ferber.


Launched in early 2015, SoSCC has already begun commissioning new works based on scientific topics, including descent into a black hole and experiencing frozen time, creating musical "emulsions", creating new compositions of matter and music, making and folding proteins, and more.

We are ecstatic to announce that we have been awarded a $5,000 grant by the Aaron Copland Fund for Music to go towards the production of our debut album! The album will be released on CAG Records. Keep your eye out for the August release date!

Haven is thrilled to receive a 2015 CMA Classical Commissioning Grant and will partner with Jon Magnussen to create "Twinge," a 20- to 25-minute song cycle for soprano, clarinet, and piano inspired by Barry Bearak's New York Times Magazine article recounting stories of survivors from 2004 Indonesian tsunami. 


Art of Élan is honored to receive a CMA Classical Commissioning Grant for its upcoming collaboration with the Formosa Quartet and esteemed composer Lei Liang. The commissioned string quartet takes its inspiration from the vocal music of aboriginal tribes of Taiwan and will be premiered at The San Diego Museum of Art in March of 2016.

Carpe Diem is honored to receive a 2015 Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant.  We are thrilled to collaborate with composer Reza Vali on a new string quartet exploring the Dastgah system and Persian polyphony!
