The Todd Marcus Quartet's 2012 release featuring originals and fresh arrangements of jazz standards. The album features two different quartets and was named one of the top 10 jazz albums of 2012 by NPR.
A few tracks feature music performed by computer controlled instruments. Some is totally electronic and some of it is totally acoustic. Some uses patches conceived by Sean which allow the keyboard player to use the keys of the synthesizer in a non traditional manner.
Spontaneous River, features Andrew Drury (dr) and Ken Filiano (bs) from Mr. Hwang’s quartet EDGE, in an orchestra of 37 string improvisers. His composition, Symphony of Souls is a spontaneous flow of notated passages and conducted improvisations.
Little Bluedevil, the second suite in bassist/composer Bill Noertker's Blue Rider series, takes us on a musical journey into abstraction, reflection, and enchantment. The Blue Rider group of painters (Kandinsky, Marc, Klee) is Noertker's inspiration here.
