Its 1st release in a decade, PNME releases 2 commissions from its 30th Season. Kieren MacMillan's "Drunken Moon" and Thomas Albert's "Night Music" is a haunting series of nocturnal scenes, ranging from the extremes of the arctic night to a nightmare of the mythical demon Incubus.
Commissioned by St. Domenic's Church in San Francisco, Dmitri Matheny's monumental sacred work for chorus, organ, percussion, brass quintet, jazz ensemble and gospel soloist received its world premiere at midnight on the dawn of the new millennium.
"Bruckmann effortlessly occupies the space between jazz and classical music, generating movements of somber reflection one minute, turbulent intensity the next. From Morton Feldman-esque minimalism to Charles Ives-like bluster, Wrack has few equals. . . " (Troy Collins, All About Jazz)
