Residency Partnership Program

This program enables ensembles and presenters to bring live ensemble music to rural, urban, and suburban communities nationwide. Dynamic collaborations and non-traditional partnerships among ensembles, presenters, and community-based organizations are encouraged.

Residency projects may include workshops, ensemble coaching sessions, lecture/demonstrations, and/or concerts that are not part of a regular series. The length of the collaborative project may range from a minimum of three days to a maximum of one year. Applicants may also propose more extensive projects that require up to three years to complete.

Grant Types
Short-term residency projects
A minimum of three days
with a minimum of three residency activities
$2,500 to $6,000
Extended residency projects
A minimum of 10 activities
over a period of one month to a year
$5,000 to $12,000
Multi-year residency projects
Up to three years
with a minimum of 12 activities annually
up to $15,000 per residency year

Depending on size of ensemble, number of residency events, and duration and scope of the project, support will typically range from 50% to 80% of proposed costs. Applications must state sources of support in addition to the amount requested from CMA. This may include cash from other grants, earned income, in-kind donations, or an allocation from the organization's general operating funds.
