New Jazz Works: Commissioning and Ensemble Development
CMA supports the creation of new works by professional U.S.-based jazz artists and helps assure that these compositions will be performed and appreciated. A multi-phase program, New Jazz Works also offers activities that develop the band leader’s career-related business skills. Founded in the year 2000, New Jazz Works has since provided support for more than 140 works that reflect the multiple styles of contemporary jazz.

The program particularly aims to support the presentation of emerging or mid-career groups performing new works. Incentives are offered to encourage presentations of CMA’s New Jazz Works commissions.
