Tools of the Trade
CMA offers an array of resources to the jazz community, helping professionals build and sustain their careers in ensemble music.
Seminars and Workshops
Each workshop in this free series—on practical subjects ranging from contract negotiations to the use of new media—is presented by an expert in the field and recorded for download on CMA’s website. The sessions are held in New York City on the first Tuesday of each month, October to June.
The First Tuesdays series, presented in collaboration with Midtown Arts Common and St. Peter’s Church, is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
Recordings of the seminars are offered online to CMA members free of charge through the generosity of the MetLife Foundation.
The annual gathering of the country’s ensemble music community is an unparalleled opportunity to network with colleagues, explore fresh perspectives on professional issues, and hear performances and showcases by emerging and renowned jazz, classical, and crossover artists. The conference is held every January at The Westin New York at Times Square, New York City.
Consultations also take place at regional and national conferences throughout the year.
