Description

Camerata Pacifica’s October program is composed of 2 masterworks: Beethoven’s A Minor String Quartet, Op. 132 and Schubert’s Piano Sonata in B-flat Major, D 960, each massive in form and expression. One of the late quartets, Op. 132 is known as the “Heiliger Dankgesang” quartet after the stunning prayer of thanksgiving, that is its third movement. Completed just two months before his death, the B-flat Major is Schubert’s final piano sonata, a contemplation, perhaps, on the end of life and for the hope beyond.
