This Thursday, October 1st, at 5:00 PM PDT/8:00 PM EDT, please join us for our second happy hour video screening, of Paula Matthusen's mesmeric, aetheric, numinous Antenna Studies.

Inspired by original poetry of Tung-Hui Hu, this work bridges geometries of transmission between cell phone streaming, FM transmission, acoustic instruments, and live electronics. The piece - in both its live and video format - involves multiple layers of sound that audience members and performers tune in via radio or smart phone. Antenna Studies explores intimacy, agency, and distance - and the technologies we use to mediate them. (Is it just us, or does this feel somehow... timely? prescient? resonant?)

Paula and Splinter Reeds developed and premiered Antenna Studies during a rather dreamy 2018 residency at Blue Sage Center for the Arts in the oh-so-elevated town of Paonia, CO.

While we've repeated excerpts in many concerts since, none but that lucky Colorado audience have experienced its magic in full flower. During a November 2019 residency at Wesleyan University (where Paula teaches composition), we filmed a complete and subtly theatrical version - which we are delighted to share with you now.

The event is free, but please register so we can follow up with instructions for joining the party. Paula and the poet will be there; we hope you and yours will be as well.

Thanks for your time and attention! We can't wait to see you.
