Carpe Diem String Quartet is excited to announce the appointment of our new cellist Ariana Nelson! Despite the challenges of Covid-19, we serendipitously had the chance to rehearse and perform with Ariana. Welcome, Ari, to the Carpe Diem family!


It's been a phenomenal decade for Carpe Diem String Quartet. We finished it with a celebratory BANG!  2019 in a snapshot: our return to Carnegie Hall, SO MANY world premieres, concerts all over the US, Italy, Switzerland, China!

We have never been happier and we look forward to seeing you in 2020!


In January we’ll be working with Judith Sherman recording the chamber music of Erberk Eryılmaz. Our CD of string quartets written by Grammy-nominated composer Jonathan Leshnoff will soon be heading down the production pipeline. We’ll be recording many of the string quartet works written by our very own violist Korine Fujiwara!


Carpe Diem String Quartet announces the appointment of Marisa Ishikawa (violin) and Gregory Sauer (cello). Recently, Carpe Diem’s recording of the music of Jeff Midkiff won Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards. The quartet will perform in Jorden Hall (MA), the Columbus Museum of Art (OH), Williams Theater (OK) and Accademia Chigiana.


We are thrilled to announce that Carpe Diem String Quartet will once again be returning to Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, January 6, 2019, 2pm. CDSQ's 4x4 "For/By/For" Music by and for CDSQ.


Carpe Diem String Quartet News: Carol Ou has informed us of her plans to step down as a quartet member this season.  We respect and support her decision. A national search is currently underway. Carol has been a tremendous asset and we will miss her spirit and musicianship.CDSQ


We are thrilled to be performing our 2015 CMA Classical Commission Calligraphy No. 15 "Raak" by Reza Vali once again in Jamestown New York, and recording this work along with new works by Reza this summer for an all-Reza Vali CD!


We are thrilled to present Reza Vali's Calligraphy No. 15 "Raak" along with Jeffrey Nytch's Seize the Sun and David Stock's String Quartet No. 13, written for us, and possibly his last completed work.  3/28/18@7:30pm Kresge Theatre, Carnegie Mellon University - $20, $15 Senior, $10 Students, free to CMU
