Garth Newel Music Center has been selected as a Bedrock Institution, by the Virginia Arts Commission in this year's "50 for 50 Arts Inspiration Awards".


GNMC hosted composer, David Biedenbender in August. David is writing a new piece for  us based on the four seasons of this beautiful mountain region. The work will be premiered during GNMC's 2018 Summer Chamber Music Festival.


Sunday August 20, 2017 Garth Newel Music Center was proud to present the third of three world premieres presented this summer. Matthew Browne's Lisztomania debuted with composer Matthew Browne in the audience.

Garth Newel Music Center (GNMC) was named the recipient of a CMA Classical Commissioning Grant for a new piece by composer, David Biedenbender. The work will be premiered by GNMC's resident chamber group, the Garth Newel Piano Quartet during GNMC's 2018 Summer Chamber Music Festival.


September 16, Clifton Forge School of the Arts and Garth Newel's Alleghany Mountain String Project present a creative strings workshop that will feature world-class musicians from across the Country with music from Celtic, Swing, Jazz, op and Folk Ballads. Concert at 6:00. 


Garth Newel Presents An American Music System Teacher Workshop September 14-17 providing an overview of O'Connor Method, Irish and Celtic Resources.  Learn to incorporate American styles and fiddling into current cirriculum.


We conducted a successful weeklong tour of Scotland with performances at St. Giles Cathedral, Paxton House, The Holy Island Festival and at St. Mary the Virgin Church.


We have just wrapped up our recording of Paul Moravec's Piano Quartet, which we were overjoyed to commission.  It's a thrilling piece and we're looking forward to its release later this spring!
