JACK Quartet

June 10, 2019: JACK gave the American Premiere of Catherine Lamb's First String Quartet at the Ojai Festival. As a part of building up to the premiere of our CMA commission in Dec. 2019, this was an important delving into her world as we workshop the still uncompleted new work.

The spring and summer have seen our collaboration with Catherine Lamb taking off! In May, we explored the harmonic spiral Cat has created when she visited NYC. Her work utilizes the intervals in the natural overtone series, creating richly sonorous and naturally beautiful haronic relationships as the piece winds downward.

Noteworthy Sheet Music

Clara Schumann’s Three Romances are melodic, expressive, and nicely adaptable to wind instruments, being especially lovely on alto flute or flute. NSM’s new edition includes parts for both alto flute and flute.

O Som Do Jazz

Musicians from Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. perform in O Som Do Jazz, a St. Petersburg group that plays Brazilian classics, as well as original music. The group just released their third CD, Go!.
